Adipurush Release Date

Adipurush is slated for theatrical release in Hindi and Telugu on January 12, 2023, along with dubbed versions in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. It had been planned to be released on August 11, 2022, but the release date had to be moved because Laal Singh Chaddha was being released at the same time.

The teaser for the film was unveiled on October 2, 2022, in honour of Gandhi Jayanti. Within 24 hours of its publication, the teaser had 69 million views and 1 million likes, moving it into second place among Indian cinema teasers behind K.G.F: Chapter 2. Some viewers were put off by the poor standard of the teaser’s visual effects and computer animation.

On October 7, 2022, a petition was submitted to a court in Delhi against Bhushan Kumar and Om Raut. The petition requested that the movie be banned and that its teaser be removed from all social media platforms. The petition stated that the movie depicted the Ramayana and its characters in an inappropriate manner.

Adipurush Storyline

The Ramayana serves as the primary source of inspiration for this movie, which, as was noted previously in the piece, is based on Indian Hindu mythology. And 7,000 years ago, with the help of Hanuman’s army, the king of Ayodhya, Raghava, journeyed to the island of Lanka in order to rescue his wife Janaki, who had been kidnapped by Lankesh, the ruler of Lanka. The plot of this movie is therefore based on Lord Shri Ram, who travels to Lanka by means of the construction of Ram Setu with his younger brother.

Additionally, he battles and vanquishes Ravana (the King of Lanka) to reclaim his wife, Sita, with the assistance and support of Hanuman and his army. Although the movie also features other characters, its main focus is on its leading cast. The epic poem known as the Ramayana was written by Valmiki, and Narada is responsible for its narration. The debut of the 3D movie is slated to take place in theatres in January of 2023.

Filming Details Of The Movie

On January 19, 2021, production on the motion capture shot for Adipurush got underway. The muhurat shot and the official launch both took place on February 2, 2021, in the city of Mumbai, India. According to the filmmakers, the principal filming for the project began that day. A huge fire accident happened at the Mumbai location used for filming that same day. Due to the fire breakout, identical duplicate sets were built. The filming for Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon was finished in October 2021. Prabhas also finished filming in November 2021. The movie’s whole shooting was finished on November 10, 2021.

More About The Movie

A promotional poster released on August 18, 2020, announced the release of Adipurush, a Ramayana adaption. Prabhas takes on the character of Lord Rama in the movie, which was directed by Om Raut, who was also the director of the historical drama Tanhaji (2020). Om Raut was inspired to convert the epic Ramayana into a movie using contemporary technologies after watching the 1992 Japanese film Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama. Raut wrote the script during the COVID-19 quarantine in India.

It didn’t take long for Prabhas to express his enthusiasm for the proposal, and soon after, T-Series Films committed to producing it. One of the most expensive films ever produced in India, Adipurush had a budget of 500 crores, which is equivalent to approximately US$63 million. The estimated price of the visual effects is 250 crore (around US$31 million). It is simultaneously recorded in Telugu and Hindi and shot in 3D.
